Launching Local application from Browser Link
Originally posted by : Sheldon (lais2@tdsecurities.com)
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had any idea on how to launch an application sitting locally on my machine, using a link in an HTML page. Right now, it pops up the 'You have chosen to download a file..." message. The app exe is sitting on the local machine, is there any way to bypass this message and have the app run as normal?

Thanks
-Sheldon

Another way is to link to a file of a registered application, i.e. Link to template.psd to open up Photoshop. Other than that I would try the MS newsgroups, they could probably give you a better answer.

------------
Sheldon at 5/23/2000 3:03:07 PM

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had any idea on how to launch an application sitting locally on my machine, using a link in an HTML page. I might just end up doing that.

Thanks in advance,
-Sheldon

------------
merLin at 5/24/2000 7:21:53 AM

Sheldon,

There's only a couple of ways to do what you're talking about, one way is to modify the program to be in the COM+ environment, but somehow I think that might be a bit too complex for what you are trying to do.
