A downside of military life...
So yea, I worked my first full day at my new duty station today, (the past three weeks I've spent checking into my command), but yea, my schedule sucks. Not much time for a personal life. I was up at 4:30, got to work at about 5:45 and worked until 5:45 this evening. Didn't make it home til 6:35 PM. I have to go do that again tomorrow. Then I get a couple days off, but on one of those days I have to go in for two hours for "training" (way to wasted my time watching boring PowerPoint presentations). Anywho, after my days off, I have to switch it up and do two evening to morning shifts, 5:45 PM to 5:45 AM or 1745 to 0545 for you military time people. I get one day off and then I have to switch it up and do the morning to evening shifts! And this cycle just goes on and on until I die from sleep deprevation!!!
Anywho, I had to get that off my chest because I'm tired and cranky and really should be in bed, but I gotta have some fun for myself, ya know!? Anywho, thanks for reading if you took the time to. I guess I just wanted another thing to complain about. Apparently I do that... Cheers

My Dad was a Paremedic, he is now toned down to something like an Ambulance Assistant - he is 65 in 2 years, I know its not military related, but hear me out. He used to do strange shifts, like yourself JHM, except that He got to go home after his shift [most of the times just to sleep].
That aside, the reason why I'm writing is that I really don't remember much about my Dad being away a lot when I was growing up. My memories are filled with great stuff when he was around us. In all honesty, myself or my brothers, loved the times he was with us, and to tell the truth, if he was around us more, we would have probably spent it away from him, in our friends house, or in our room, or just doing what kids do... but i guess we realised at such an early age that our Dad wasn't like other Dad's - he was special - and so our time with him when we were growing up was golden...in fact you couldn't put a price on it...and that is the truth. Paul. |

yeah, that's not easy... I had such schedule and even worse for
three whole years. getting up at 5 AM, standing for full inspection at 6 AM with clean tents (no rooms lol) and shiny weapons, morning exercise, then the "ordinary" day schedule which was never finished before 9 PM. and usually there was one hour watch during the night. indeed, I wasn't married and actually didn't really have my own life back then, but I remember that very well!! ![]() |

Wow that sucks....I spent 1/4 - 1/2 of my military time training to do my job, which only happened 5 times in the 4 years I was in the military. The other 1/2 - 3/4 of my time was spent deployed to various locations for "precautionary measures".
Can you guess what I did? Hint: I still have all my fingers and toes! |

YOU WERE A SPY!!! lol j/k Let's see..so far I've spent 2 months in basic training, 4 months in I.T. class "A" school, which was job training, and then after I arrived at my permanent duty station, I've spent two weeks training to do what I do here, because IT "A" school didn't train for the "real" stuff, which I can't talk about, but yea, I've spent a lot of time training! |

Yeah, I did the usual 8 weeks basic and almost 10 months of AIT, but that was about 15 years ago!
