Just wondering if anyone is a member of these? When I was younger I saw no value to it, but now as a supervisor there is a certain value of saying hey I'm a member of these assocations. Just my personal opinion. I know when I hire people if I saw something like this then I would maybe give that person a extra point or something.
IWA = International Webmasters Assocation HWG = HTML Writers Guild They also offer extra certificates of of personalism for certain parts. Which is actually a process of things you must complete and be certified before you can get the certificate which, in my opinion says that the person cares enough to say hey I'm worth highering and look I'm certified for this position. Thoughts? In no way I trying to push this or sell this to people. I am only wondering what other think. I've always wondered about people opinions on memberships to assocations and Unions.

I've seen value in gaining membership of recognised organisations/associations/regulatory bodies through each of the various professions I've moved through in my working life.
When I started my working career - back when Mr Sinclair had just launched his ZX80/ZX81 computers for the masses, and BBC computers were starting to filter their way into British schools!! - as an apprentice carpenter I gained membership of The British Institute of Carpenters. When I progressed into construction management I studied for, sat and passed exams to gain entry to the Chartered Institute of Builders. Both are world recognised bodies and membership of them 'means' something. Since moving into web design/development I've found it hard to find any internationally recognised membership organisations that carry any recognition outside of their own membership base. The only related body I am a member of is the Web Standards Group (WSG), simply because it promotes the next step in the evolution of web design to recognised standards. If anybody can identify relevant, internationally recognised bodies for web design/development then I would certainly look into them and consider membership.
