Are Deadlines bad for your health?

Okay, here's the deal, I have a deadline tomorrow and to be honest its ruined my weekend trying to 'tidy things up'. I have set up a link locally - as to how I actually feel about tomorrow [I couldn't upload the image as its over 100k, and because its local it may not be up for long]

Does everyone feel the same way about deadlines, currently I think my life is just one big deadline - its really getting out of hand.
<edit>
Sorry, took it off my server.

Anyway, here's the link
yes i definitely agree with you. Deadlines in combination with too much workload can be bad for your health and can create stress. Some medical scientific trials pointed out that stress can induce cancer for instance. That may be a reason to say its bad for your health, don't you think?

Yeah, deadlines are terrible stress! If you have a project due and you're worried about how to get it done in time and you're rushing you'll increase blood pressure for sure. And when you finally do get it done (hopefully before the deadline) you're worried about the quality of the job. It's obviously not as good as it could be if you'd had more time or hadn't wasted time. People who successfully manage time don't procrastinate as much and find more time to finish things within the deadline thus reducing stress. On the other hand, there's only so much time to manage. Just thinking about deadlines is causing stress. This thread is going to give someone a heart-attack or stroke!

I agree to an extent it can be bad for one's health. Me on the other hand, whether it's bad for me or not, when I have a deadline, and it's soon, I am actually able to do my best work then. I guess it just differs for each person.

I agree that pressure can be a good thing, sometimes, I have done some of my best work under pressure, but our place, right now, its like constantly trying to achieve bigger projects to tighter deadlines. I haven't had a holiday this year at all (although I have pencilled in a fortnight for next May ). And as my partner keeps telling me: You work to live not live to work.

Smile and the World smiles back...
