Sorry, bit of a rant.
Why, oh why do people join an IT department if they are going to be adverse to any change? People that want to stick with pen and paper, manual ways of doing things and don't want to learn anything should NOT join an IT department. It makes life even more difficult for those of use who DO want to move on. You try to introduce something new, you take the time to make it work correctly and all they do is pull it to bits. It really annoys me; they don't realise how much hard work can go into programming a whole new system to move it away from a paper based system. Never mind that the new system will make things easier, fast, better and more efficient, not forgetting allowing you to view data ANYWHERE unlike paper based systems. Gawd it annoys me. Thanks for reading; feel much better now. Cheers, Dean |

I hear you! I suggest picking a beer off the Beer poll and just start drinking (perferably after work)

Amen! I've gotten pretty good at educating this end user about the consequences of said "suggestions". (i.e. - delays, performance, accessibility, usability, cost, etc...) |

It drives me mad when they say "oh, but you only have to do this and that to do it..." WLL YOU DO IT THEN!!! Cus there is more to it than that!! So many people have made a site in frontpage and think they know what you are doing !!! aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh |

I've never used a wysiwyg HTML editor. Every web page I've ever made (or at least claiming as mine... I was an ultra n00b once and tried Yahoo's wysiwyg) I've done in Notepad. I'd suggest that to anyone trying to learn web design before ever looking at Frontpage. It's all fine and good to use Frontpage but if you don't understand the markup language and something goes wrong what are you going to do? Unfortunately the common answer is bug people who know the answers only because they've made pages/sites in notepad. Bah!! They wouldn't have the same problems if they'd learned the proper way to do it from the start. Bottom line, end users love graphical interfaces and computers don't really care for'em. Text is much easier to translate into bianary. Poor unfortunate end users don't know that so they say "My page doesn't look the way it did in Frontpage! AHHHH" |
