If I've posted some code above, you might think it looks a bit simplistic. It might be. I'd rather people tried the next step themselves rather than getting a full solution on a plate. That way they learn more!

Probably best not to say anything about it

It's a simple reward program for genuine contributors to the forums. Most forums have implemented the same standards. If you contribute in a useful way you get rewarded with an avatar and personal signature. If you're a taker and just want to mess around you don't get the same rewards. Nothing sinister about it.

hmm... it's not perfect you know. spammers can spam with 1000 messages for 90 days and win the big prize and on the other hand someone can post 10000 helpful messages but still has to wait 90 days.

Er I don't think so. Spammers will be caught before they reach 10 posts, and banned soon after

well there are quite many moderators roaming around here indeed, and I haven't seen real spammer here yet. worse I've seen so far is those who post once (once in every forum of course) some commercial bull**** and go away.
so what about all those who never really answer or help others but only asking for help? they can easily reach 100 posts and you can't say they deserve special honor as they only got help...
see, the system is not perfect?

however, I notice you don't use your power very much - many threads are posted in the wrong forum and not always get moved - why is it? is it any limitation over the amount of posts moderator can move or you fear ppl won't find their posts? just curious...

There's no limitation on the number of threads a moderator can control (except that they have to be in a forum where we moderate). But if you find something that shouldn't be there and needs moving/deleting, please use the Report Bad Post feature, by clicking the red triangle in the top right hand corner of the post. We'll get this report and deal with the thread accordingly.
