Charge Credit CArd Confuse!

Hi you all! i dont know if this is the right forum or if there is any, but i got this Q how do some shopping site charge there customers? i mean when one is using the credit card as payment does the site itself have some third party to settle the transaction processes between the charge account(credit card) or they simple have a connection between the bank itself? just confuse of how this works! enlighten me! ![]() Online credit card payments can be handled in real-time, or processed offline. I would assume you are talking about real-time payment processing, in which case there is a connection between the website that collects the credit card details and an online payment processing service. This can be a bank or a third party merchant. The website collects the credit card data, submits the data via a secure connection to the bank/merchant, the bank/merchant processes the data and if all is good makes payment to the website account/deducts payment from the card holders account, otherwise declines the payment request, and then returns a reciept/report to the originating website. I think that about covers it :O
