Cisco Router Activity Log
I've been given the task of configuring our new Cisco 801 router although I've never had to maintain a Cisco router before. I want to be able to see a log file of the router's activity (i.e. when lines have been raised, to what number, whether authentication was successful etc) to aid with troubleshooting but I cant figure out the command to show me this kind of info. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

I think you first have to turn logging on but when you do that the messages will start flodding your screen.... the way i do it is to set the
router up to log to a linux box remotely.... it was pretty easy to set it up.... just search for a howto... you don't HAVE to use a linux box... you just need somthing with a syslog server.... there may be an easier way to do this search cisco.com |
