yeah, already saw that and gave it lots of thought..... my conclusion was, that if one choose to directly throw insults toward the forum owner, he deserve the worst, no matter his past. he's no stupid, and he has even said before that he's probably leaving. the fact he chose to leave slamming the door behind him like that is quite sad, but it was his choosing. Jonathan could have handled it better maybe, but as we can't judge God in our daily life, we can't judge the creator of those forums around here. |

I don't think your 'case in point' is a very good one, Birch.
Dawei was not banned for 'not being agreeable'. He was banned for directing insults at the admins. It was JC who banned him too. No- one [that I am aware of] has ever been banned for simply not being 'agreeable' - but that's a discussion for a whole nother thread. <edit> Shadow beat me to it. ![]()

We get a lot of trolls that role through DevShed spewing out crap. I read a couple of threads that day and each one basically had a "your site is not secure" post from you. I figured you for a troll since 1) Your posts offered no real proof 2) your posts offered no solutions 3) Your posts didn't mention you were offering help.
Yeah, I overreacted. Sorry. I cuss a lot, though, good or bad. You say tomato, I say ****ing idiot. Get over it. ---John Holmes... |

I don't think it is any coincidence how the ASPFree posters get a little shocked and de-motivated by the responses they receive at DevShed. Shadow, myself and now Memnoch. I'm sure there are others too.
Surprisingly WELL DONE Sepodati for accepting you over reacted. I do notice the get over it comment at the end of your acceptance though. It's just tantamount to having the last word. That's what DevShed appears to be about sometimes. The amount of noobs that must get frightened off from DevShed is scary, it really is. AND A SHAME OF COURSE. One thing to remember at DevShed is that the solidarity over there is commendable and quite something. If you attack one you are USUALLY attacking all of the 'clan'. Memnoch - Your conclusion to stay in ASPFree along with mine and Shadow’s is somewhat amusing and well… I find DevShed inappropriately aggressive. I'm not even sure it is meant this way but needless to say I post on very very very rare occasions because I really do not want to get into a cyber space argument full stop. Not to mention being one against many and not even to mention a crap comment spoiling my hour. One thing is for sure if any of the members of ASPFree get attacked by a member of DevShed I am 100% behind the ASPFree member because I know it will be justified. (The ones I know anyway) If an ASPFree member calls a DevShed member a ****ing idiot then guess what, I’ll be posting publicly to state they are out of order. That’s the way it should work but it won’t happen rest assured. Although Memnoch’s dip **** comment did amuse me and was completely justified. Sorry Sepodati but it was . If this has antagonised anyone from DevShed then that’s not my intention and I will not enter into a war. This is something that has been dragged up again and surely a question has to be asked. Why? The simple answer, for me, is over aggressive behaviour. If cyber arguments are to stop then I feel the benefit of the doubt needs to be given to noobs and let them over step the mark before they are rebuked. Innocent until proven guilty perhaps? Yep OK. DevShed do it their way and ASPFree does it our way. Just so we are all clear that I do try to be fair with my opinions. I think Memnoch should have posted ‘PM me if you want to know more’. He didn’t and well everyone else has said enough on this. I hope you all see my comments as factual and justified as I’m really not trying to antagonise anyone, I am merely attempting to point out the differences between the forums and the previous events that have enflamed a situation that really does not need to be present. I’m sure if Memnoch and Shadow had been known before posting none of the comments they received would have been given. But if you think about this surely it proves the point I am trying to make. If I’ve done my reputation any FURTHER harm at DevShed then I’m sorry but I needed to support my fellow members of ASPFree as would you at DevShed. See you all around. Phil.

well said Phil, as usual you don't spare any details.
![]() considering the vast amounts of visitors at devshed, scaring some of them off is not as big deal as one may think... when looking in the big picture this is what I see: aspfree is friendly and small place, satellite of devshed, where people may find less help (after all, devshed has much more active members thus chances of someone who can help increase) but do get more friendly answers. those who look only for solution to their problem usually won't care how they're treated, as long as they get solution. think of that like this: the internet is one big school. each forum is one class room... you have big class rooms and you have small class rooms. the bigger the room is, the more noisy it is, and the teacher can't be very friendly as it would cause chaos. however, when there are few students, they get better attitude from the teacher who can treat each personally without having to care for order too much. |

I agree this clannish behaviour is sad. Please rest assured that I will not attack anyone nor will I be rude to them.
As far as I am concerned, all that abide by these two caviats are welcome at ASPFree and I know this is mirrored throughout the members of ASPFree. So ...welcome to all and ESPECIALLY those fellow coders at DevShed. Your knowledge is needed. |

I'm a little late I know, but I just found this thread.
I wasn't so much objecting to your "You're site is not secure" post so much as your response to Sep. It's been a few months now that I've had enough reputation over at DevShed to put a n00b in the red on one shot. Trust me, I take that seriously, but I thought that it was warranted. Finding out that you came over here looking for pats on the back from your old friends doesn't convince me otherwise. I'll give you an illustration I've used before. This will apply to DaWei's case as well. Consider these forums as little countries. Any country needs police, or moderators if you will. If a police officer came up to you on the street and started questioning you for no reason you can see, would you start yelling at him? If he cursed at you, would you start yelling and cursing back? Whether the officer is wrong or not, I can guarantee that if you do, you will be on your way to getting arrested. There are ways to make complaints about officers, and cursing at them isn't the way. In any society, it is a bad idea to allow people to undermine the authority of those in charge. As was mentioned, we get a lot more traffic at DevShed than you do here. That also means we get a lot more clueloss n00bs too. The shear number of them can sometimes make us a little bitter and jump on people quicker than usual. That is why I intentionally made the effert to ignore your posts about security, though I found them useless. However, dogmatically defending said posts by throwing insults will only get you in trouble and your point ignored, especially when you're new. We aren't all evil people at DevShed. You can get jumped on rather quickly sometimes, but it is just as easy to be accepted again, if you take it well. Samething very similar has happened to me as well, but I took the advice given, though strong as it was, and moved on. People will respect you for it. If you have a problem with anyone, take it up directly with them without insults. I would have listened. If I am left with anything in this world, let it be my reasonableness. Coming over here to complianing, and naming names is not only disrespectful, but useless, as no one here is able to do anything to fix the situation. For that, I'm sure you have lost the respect of many. The biggest advice I can give to anyone going to DevShed is this: Don't get offended. If you are wrong, you will be told. If you take everything to heart, you will have your feelings hurt. From personal experience I can say that this is good advice for life in general. I, nor anyone else, can guarantee that your experience at DevShed will be perfect, just as no one here can guarantee that anyone's experience here will be perfect. Life is imperfect. The only wrong I can see in what I did was that I got involved in an argument that wasn't mine. While I believe my derepping was fully warranted, I will return each one of those rep points to you as soon as I can for the sole reason that I overstepped my bounds. For that, I apologize. |
