Ditch the new Smilies...

Ok, it seems these were added on a whim, but a few people have
spoken out about them [myself included].

I'd like to suggest that most if not all of them be removed. Some
of them are fine, but most are just rude/offensive/voilent, and all
really have no place here.

What exacttly is the point of them? If anyone can show me a good
use for any of them, then I may reconsider my opinion, but I doubt
you'll be able to.

Some of them you can't even use because they start with :o

<edit> Ok, it seems you can only add a certain number of images/
smilies to a post, so I'll post them separately...

<edit> Ah crap, I forgot to add a poll :grrr: Can a mod add one
for me please? -> 2 options: 'Keep them' and 'Ditch them'.

I agree that they aren't appropriate here, but I doubt they'll go seeing as the admins just did the work to add them.

The admins here are pretty good, and once they see that it was
just one person asking for them [dragon rider], and that everyone
else [well, at least according to this thread] wants rid of them, I
reckon we can get them shifted...

yeah, you might be right there! Depends on how easy it is to add/remove them. I have never tried doing it.

Perhaps a better poll would be which emoticons people would prefer to have... frankly, quite a few of those don't seem to be used at all in DevH, and a couple are used only in the Flames forum which is unique to that venue, a pretty permanent holdover from its OCA days.

I know the DevH kids are wanting a few new ones... perhaps there can be some form of compromise amongst all the Dev Forums so we could have one set of smilies across the domain? I don't know if it's possible or not to have a single pool of emoticons for all the forums to access... merely a thought.
