thanks, Memnoch! hopefully hackers won't use it, as it would mean IE would have 99% of the market again - most hackers aren't IE fans. |

No, just a fan of the browser is all. |

See, this is why alot of proprietary software is taking and will continue take a massive hit from Open Source offerings. Updates in the Open Source community are reflex and ultimate priority. It's funny how the Open Source community with little or no $$ attached to it on a base level, seems to exude a higher level of accoutnability to its users. Am I wrong? |

It is indeed a very different approach, and one that I hope doesn't waine in enthusiasm. What I feel is the core to this is the open nature of the developers about critical issues with the browser. Rather than an "Security through Obscurity" approach, they let the world know and say that they will not be embarrassed by these things. "A fix is coming soon, until then, beware" I think IE is starting to catch onto this methodology though, and I hope they continue the route. In truth I don't want to see one browser win over the other, I want to see all browsers win. I want to be able to develop and use the same code for every browser, not fooling around with tweaks and hacks for one or the other. |

You are a better man than I -- In truth, I hope IE dies in the gutter in which it was congealed. Talk about a promising future underutilized (anyone remember IE 3.0 and 4.0 - these were major steps for browsers). It seems when they beat netscape, they eased up the R&D, or worse, got really lazy. The same cycle emitted from IE Mac. When it came out, it had the best standards support of all browsers... but it stops right there. By todays standards, it's effing horrible and M$oft dropped the project now anyway. Why do I hate IE? Because it makes my life hell - every stylesheet I create has about 30 or so lines of '#'s and '.'s followed by 'ie_mac_fix', '/*hide from ie mac */', or 'ie_fix'. I'd just as soon see firefox bring down the wall that IE built - it won't happen tho. Just wishful thinking. |
