sad isn't it? Ok, we have this Michelin tyre problem, but we can live with that. The frustrating thing about this is the USA justice system. Those teams and michelin etc. are just too scared drivers and other people will go to court when something happens (e.g. accident). This justice stuff in USA is very unique. Luckily we don't have it in that degree here in Europe! Thats one of the reasons i prefer Europe above USA.
Just sharing opinion. |

Nah, I don't think it was anything to do with th Justice System.
Or really anything to do with the US at all. It would have been the same had it happened at Silverstone or wherever. Michelin said the tyres were unsafe to race, full stop. That's all there is to it. Now had they built a chicane on turn13, Michelin have said that the tyres would have been fine for the race, but it was the FIA who decided not to allow the track to be changed [rightly so], so again, nothing to do with the US. It was purely a safety thing. If a trye exploded at 200mph in the middle of a pack, multiple cars would have crashed, and there is no telling what would have happened to the drivers. On top of that, if a piece of the cars broke off when hitting the wall and flew into the crowd it would most certainly have killed someone, and the teams would have been liable cos they knew the cars weren't safe. Yeah, I agree it sucks, but thb, I can't see how they could have done it differently...

I doubt about that. Can't be a coincidence that it happend there and not somewere in Europe.
I agree, changing a track because one of the tirecompanies has problems is not a valid reason to rebuild the track. Michelin has a problem. The track is fine. Maybe in a few years they are going to adapt the drivers to the track..then maybe a chance is created for me to drive such machine LOL ![]() |

imo they should have allowed michelen to fly new tires over from france and let the teams use those. I know not something that should be normally done but in the interest of safety, racing, sportsmanship and for the fans this decision should have been made by the fia. just my opinion |

Spanish Grand Prix when their tyres were knackered. Quote:
There was no coincidence, Michelin just brought the wrong tyres to the race. They could easily have done that in europe too. [eg Bridgestone at Barcelona] Quote:
cars were struggling for grip, so the cut grooves into the tarmac that allowed for more grip in the less aerodynamic indycars. Now, Bridgestone has a sister company called Firestone who provide many [all? I dunno, I don't follow the sport] of the tyres for the indycars, and as there was a race there last week, or the week before, Firestone had info on the way the rubber reacted that they passed onto big bro Bridgestone, giving them an advantage as they had more accurate data on the way the tyres would perform. That is all beside the point; it went on before the raceweekend. But still, no, they shouldn't have to change the track layout for michelin dirvers, it's their own fault. That said, they shouldn't have let the other 6 drivers race either. It was pointless, and did nothing but tarnish the sport. |

i don't remember the circumstances there but knackered and faulty are different. The teams and fans seemed to suffer due to michalens fault, not really sure why this is fair but as i said my opinion!! |

Yup, like I said, it sucks. Racing 6 cars today was just taking the
piss out of everyone that paid stupid amount of money for tickets. <pedantic> Back to the Barcelona thing, it boils down to the same thing as the michelin fiasco: in neither case was the tyre actually faulty, it was just the wrong one for the job, and in both cases declared unsafe by the manufacturer. |
