I started to mess with this long time ago, but abandoned that
when I realized the user can always detect and close the program using the Task Manager. I had the program already blocking certain websites (according to their URL) by closing the browser window if it detected such website active. as for full scale software sorry, not familiar with any... ![]() |

the company i'm working for has something on/in their browers (company wide) that prevents the user from going to certain websites (lots actually) ... it redirects them to another page that says basically ... "You should be working, stop playing on the Internet" ... not really sure how they do it though. Luckily I don't have one of their regular desktops and don't go through their network, so I can still play.

in theory, I can mask my program by giving it name resembling
system name - it would fool most users, even veterans. however more "advanced" users will still be able to detect it and kill it. if only I found out how to make process re-open itself once killed (or better yet, cause Restart) I could proceed with that program. |

My teacher created an awesome program for our library. There are actually two programs, and it somehow makes itself a service and does something to attach to Window's internal thing, I couldn't really tell, but he's a smart guy and he did it with VB6, at which I tried to decompile and of course failed miserably lol
But I believe that he placed a timer on each program, if one of them died, then it would restart the other. --------- As for the internet filter, it occurs I believe when data hits port 80 on the central internet router for the school, but I could be wrong. |

reading all this and thinking about it more if tehre is a program on there at the end of the day they will find a way of turning it off. I think he wants to network the computers at some point so i will just suggest my router to him and say i can block things from tehre!
thanks all, RF |

the company I work for runs WebSense on their ISA Server to filter all internal surfing. It is configurable using group policy...and allows for exceptions!
