Math's ain't so hard, just so long as you can understand the underlying principle. ...Although, I must admit, I still don't know how (-b+/-Sqrt(b^2 - 4*a*c))/2a works. Quote:
Not yet ![]() I've still got my A2 year to do, and after that then it's university for this bird ![]() |

Congrats Shadow.
You can only learn so much in school. I believe it's much more fun as soon as you start working with real life solutions than with classroom examples. Studying unfortunately is part of programming as we should keep always learning so as to not become obsolete with the new up and coming technologies.

oh, that's the most simple stuff. let's just say, that I have come to know how this formula (which was given as fact in highschool, right?) has been created i.e. how they discovered it, using complex integrals. and I discovered I'm not real mathematician - I failed to "understand the underlying principle" behind such stuff. badly enough, it happened only in the last year so I couldn't go back. but it's all good, now it's over and I'm free as a bird! ![]() Quote:
hey lewy, thanks... you're very right as usual. I'm working for 5 years now, started before my studies. and indeed, seeing what you learn in theory working on real is really fun... ![]() |

Hi WTG shadow good to hear.
My schooling is almost none existant, I have a few qualifications but nothing worth talking about and all related to the pub trade, so i can told a license to sell alcohol. My main problem was when i read, by the time I have read the second page of a book I had forgotton what the first page said, at the time the advice about i got was rubbish, and i should have really left school much eaelier and done studying relating to what i was doing, but the option was never given to me, I don't regret not having a good education but it would have opened a larger number of doors. but with everything hynsite is a powerfull thing but will be able to give my kids a greater understanding of other ways of an education other than a full time education. But what ever happens you make your own luck and if you sit on your back side you will stay on your backside for a very long time.

thanks Davey, I totally agree about your last comment. can't be more true. ![]() that problem you have is known today, too bad it wasn't always known as real problem - I mean they probably thought you're just avoiding studies back then, right? so, you're saying that all your knowledge you owe to books and self teaching?? that's good, but sometimes directions are needed. |

thanks, even though I did enjoy school most of my knowledge comes from practicle experience, even from the class room, if things where put in from of me that i could see working or how and why they worked, i understood it more and was able to put it into practise, but simply ready a book and answering questions I simple not very good at that, however someone read me a book and i'll listern happily. I always considered a bright pupil that worked hard but my teachers always said could do better. My main downfall was homework, sitting reading books and understanding them not my key skill and the internet and BBCi and revision bite size where not on offer as they are now, plus i could always find something i enjoyed more than homework. Yep i agree directions is needed it always helps to find the right way and have some form of backup to your way of thinking and doing thing, I like this forum not only cos it helps with my problems in prgramming but it also gives me more than one view on how things work and how I can look at a problem I think thats just as vital as the code ppl generoulsy post. In all a long and complex subject really but knowing your strengths and weakness should help you improve, but you have to keep active. |
