fixed small bug I had in the signature generator that added extra "/" after
the server name. and posted about it in devshed, hopefully more ppl will
use it and spread the folding this way!!

Just got an email from college computer peeps about a similar project to F@H, I won't be doing it, not sure if you could even run both but the email's below if anyone's interested

As you may have heard, the BBC and the University of Oxford (amongst others) are looking for people to volunteer "the computer power you're not using" to help with modelling a climate change experiment.

If you want to join in, you are asked to download a small control program.

Note: Always back-up anything important before installing anything new! The program has been thoroughly tested, and is written by trusted professional computer scientists, but nobody can guarantee it won't muck-up your computer, although it should be safe.

The program you download is set only to run when your computer isn't too busy, so your system performance shouldn't be affected. You can use your computer as you normally would and the processing will start and stop automatically in the background - the programs you run and the work you do will be given priority.

You need a broadband internet connection to participate and a reasonably new computer (new to about 4 years old).

Not suitable for laptops.

they can probably co-exist fine only on computers with Hyper Threading so that each
get 50% CPU time. but we won't get any flowers for doing that...

Yeah, I saw that on BBC Three the other night there B&W, this fella claims they only need 10,000 folders folding for 1 month solid and they'll have processed more info than what a super-computer could do in the same month. Seemingly this study is going to help show the damage that Global Warming and Global Cooling is going to do to our planet in the next 50 years. It was an interesting prog -- however, I have alreay signed up to Fold for Dev, so this is where I'm giving my spare cycles to.

As I recall, boinc timeshares several different projects (climate model, seti, etc) through your distributed computing client... I'd just as soon stick to one.
