A well placed smack can often teach us where we are going wrong if done in the right manner as long as it does not cause any physical damage.

Indeed. My wife and I went to the Science Centre in Toronto on the weekend. There were so many kids running, yelling, and climbing on things with no parents in sight that I was ready to appoint myself the back-hand police to keep all those kids in line.
