well, I guess gmail simply send the text as unicode, and those forums also store the messages in unicode rather than ascii thus preserving the full format.
well you might not be using the standard extended ASCII table

nope, I don't use the standard. I have hebrew language installed as default, guess it's affecting the ascii values.

gmail is not working for me whole day now... anybody else is experiencing problem with google mail? it caught me unready, I always thought google has very strong and reliable servers - probably it only prove they're only human after all...

yeah, got back to life for me as well. didn't say it's dead for good, just suffered from temporary problems. I hope it won't happen again, it's really headache to check for new messages without getting the notifications!

You're not the only one. I have 20+ email accounts and use Fusemail to connect them all up. I can get mail via the web or via IMAP so I'm always synched wherever I go. If I've posted some code above, you might think it looks a bit simplistic. It might be. I'd rather people tried the next step themselves rather than getting a full solution on a plate. That way they learn more!
