GMail anyone?

You probably heard about GMail - the free mail service offered by Gooogle - do you have account? do you think gmail is indeed better than existing email providers like yahoo, hotmail and such? you think 1000 mega bytes are really needed?

in my opinion, it's really great and I'm using it myself... but it has major setback - it does not support attachments. yep... it can't recieve or send any attachment other than images. while it's great for virus protection, it force the user to have other email account, for attachments - for example if he wants to send some zip file to friend. so, gmail can't be the only or primary email account, and that's really pitty... I expected more from the google guys. what you say about it?

I'm probably going to be the only person without a google mail account pretty soon. I haven't figured out why I'd want a GMail account.

I have a gmail account since 7-8 month now (and had been giving accounts to people every X month)
its cool to store source code (message to self)
the interface is innovative as instead of seeing a "re: Original message" you see a discution (multiples tabs on top of messages)

the MAJOR bug that i've reported and they did'nt even bothered replying me (and it's still uncorected today) is that you dont receive attached file if the user join a file but reply to your mail instead of making a new one

the principal advantage is that you can store a lot of source code

I got a trick here : remove extension it wont block it and ........... amazingly, when you download it....... tada ! .zip extension added

For some reason, when MSN was upgrading thier hotmail accounts to 250 mb of storage, I ended up with 2gb. The only reason I'd get a GMail account is to be cool, like I'm part of some upper class email society.

Yeah GMail serves no purpose.. who in the heck uses that much storage anyways??

Do you share your hdd with contacts in different states, countries?
I think the system behind searching for messages as opposed to looking at all the subjects of your letters is pretty neat, but I use folders to organize my mail so I don't need it. GMail is pretty cool and the space they give out is staggering, but I'm not switching just yet.

yeah, what I like in Gmail is the new approach and super fast search... the amount of storage is minor advantage.

Well, I guess since my current email provider gives me plenty of space I see GMail as "JAMP" (just another mail provider).

advantage is that i'm working at home / at my job (zoo) / at myJob(Aquarium) (same job different locations) / and at University

French and English (depend on mail and language of the contact)

cool... french is nice language, I love hearing that although I don't know more than two words...
Gmail support foreign languages like french?

nope gmail is english like this forum but it still wont block me sending french messages :

note for special caracters like é-ç-à-ê ...... we use the same alpha-numeric char table(ASCII)
you just dont have em on you keyboard config try to hold the left "alt" and type 130 on the numpad
you should output é (with my config its only 1 key)
