Good free php host

Well, last year I learned asp in my spare time and so this year I thought I could continue my self-development by learning php (feel free to give me advice if you feel theres a more constructive way to use my time i.e. learn a different language).

For asp I used 1asphost/domaindlx (which I know several people on here have used) which were great, incredibly easy and fast to edit files and such. So I was wondering if someone knew a free PHP host that is good for learning on, something with a simple file manager like on 1asphost and preferably with MYSQL supported.

I can give 4 shiny rep points (may not be able to thanks to the rep fests) to any helpful ideas.

why dont you just download apache 2.x and php5 for whichever windows/linux you use .. install and test on your own pc ? throw in mysql as well and you have a totally spiffy test machine all ready for you. and none of them hog resources and make for an excellent learning...

or if you wanna do that REALLY easily (ie if your feeling lazy) download WAMP or PHPDEV and install that package which will install the lot for you

Or stop being stingy and fork out a few quid for a host i offer a basic package for £10 a year! In pubs around here that is less than 3 pints !!!!

Having said that im not sure i wanna host your site anyway, based on the resources you used to use when building functions with recurring loops and adding thousands of records to a db a min

that only happened twice and I'm sure it didn't use up too much of the system resources

maybe lets hope you have better luck with php

why would anyone use a live host when your learning the language? have a test set up at home is miles and miles more convienent and the experience gained is much better.

But the offers i've seen from members about their free services are commendable.
