I read everything my kids do (that way I know what they are exposed to), and yes I have read Half Blood Prince.
It irked me to find a grammatical spelling error as early as page ten, though. |

I also read Tolkien. I have read the Lord of the Rings , The Hobbit, and Silmarillion(sp?) soo many times... tolkien remains one of the most amazing authors this world has ever known.. and till now aftre more than 8 years of reading tolkien he still has the power to awe me with the scale of imagination, description, poetic beauty and style.

Tolkien's work and Harry Potter can't be compared seeing how Harry Potter is a very light read opposed to Tolkien's endless descriptions of things.
Don't get me wrong, I also read his work and loved it but I wouldn't compare oranges to apples. |

mmm, i agree... while tolkiens lord of the rings is a bit too descriptive, harry potter isn't descriptive enough... though, in relation to harry potter and the half blood prince, its a MUST read.. imho, its defiently the most exciting book so far!

has never read HP and cant see me in the future, but if you like LoTR stuff (which i do) try these if anything i find them better then Lotr:
Riftwar Saga by The Raymond E. Feist (also after these 3 books their are many more just as gripping) and im currently reading Book one in The wheel of time by Robert Jordan (which atm i cant put down) Thier just as indepth as Lotr but not as predictable. |

I loved the Wheel of Time, I read up to book 5. Things is about Robert Jordan it feels like he's following the exact same template for every single book in the series:
1.Boring introduction 2.Something happens, BANG 3.The group is split up 4.Travel forever with no real intrigue but there are a few clues 5.We finally know what's going on so we rush to the right area 6.Big fight 7.Conclusion I'll probably finish the series but not right away. I suppose the Harry Potter books follow this same template but since they are such a light read you can just skim through the 4 first parts. |

WoT should keep you busy, they are very good except for what I said. Sorry if my post did upset you (even though you said you were kidding) I tried not to actually spoil the plot but it gets really boring after the earth explodes in chapter 5 (line 7). :P
