Hd Tv

Just bought a 42" HDTV and upgraded my cable to get a HD feed for a few channels. Oh man is it worth it!!! Watching the football games where great, and fox had digital audio to go with it which was amazing!

Anyone else have or thinking about getting HD?

In Wisconsin we get about 8 - 10 channels in our basic cable. Plus, you can get HD through an antenna (which I havent tried).

FOX, NBC, CBS, ABC, ESPN, TNT and few others. Not everything on those channels are HD, but most of the prime time ones are.

Just a few months ago, all tv's over 36" (I believe) need to be HD or ED ready. All tv's in the next year or s (I belive) need to be HD ready.

Yup, the tuner mandate stiplulates that all 36inch or larger DTV sets entering the US must have an integrated DTV tuner capable of receiving the ATSC signal over-the-air; mid sized 25 to 35 in full compliance by march 06; 13" to 24" by july 07.

Check out tvtechnology.com you can also sign up for their free newlsetter. Unfortunately you'll spend all year trying to figure out what the hell is going on with this whole DTV thing...

Does it look good even during the day? Hey i'm just going of the old style projection. I've not really seen the LCD's except in a dark room in a store.

Most modern LCD's screens have a gloss finish, like a laquer deposited across the screen, instead of the original matt finish (which leads to all sorts of colour distortion - as most designers will tell you. That is why they still prefer the CRT's) which means they can be viewed in direct sunlight with the same result an RGB TV would give.

I emphasise the word - modern - here.

cool, i'll have to check them out (Projection LCD's). They still aren't as cool as the flat panel hang-em-on-the-wall LCD's though

I'd never go Plasma till they get their life expectancy issues worked out.
