The fellow in question ran the software on his laptop shadow and was told he needed SP2 to carry on with the install. I asked him if he ever had installed SP2 and he told me no, so we now have to download that and install it then go through the process again.

XP without SP2 is like open car.... it's just calling all kinds of trojans to come.
it's pure useless to remove the trojans if SP2 is not installed, they will automatically come back within couple of minutes when he connects to the internet. |

It seems as though you could be right J, my buddy from work is off till Monday, but once he gets back we will try the above link if MS Defender can't help, he's still not installed SP2, although to be fair he didn'y have much time to do it at work today - so he's burnt it onto a disc and says he will install it over the weekend. Thanx again for the link. ![]() |

lol yea not good. I just recently attempted to repair a lap top of someone from work. He was downloading a video driver and it self installed. Put his computer in an infinite reboot. He was able to boot to the OS a couple times but it would reboot itself after a few minutes. I tried going into safemode, same thing. I noticed that the damn thing was abnormally warm. I had an idea of the problem then. Sure enough, when I attempted to reinstall Windows, I received a Stop error which lead me to believe it was the cpu overheating. It was a Sony Vaio and the damn thing had to of been no taller than 1/2". No airflow whatsoever! Luckily, it's still under warranty. I told him to send that sucker back! |
