How can I learn VB?

I would like some resources where I can take a sample DB I have with VB code in it and learn something from it. However, the only experience I have ever had programming was very little javascript and I didn't even fully understand what I was doing. What I did with javascript was found things on the internet and copied those without fully understanding the logics behind it. It all makes me so confused.
For example, do functions in JavaScript require the names they were given or can they be called anything and then referenced by what they were called. And are subs the same as JavaScript functions? I wish I knew what I was doing
On a side note, I used to think I knew a lot about HTML but I never learned stuff like CSS and that. I did learn tables and frames pretty well I think.

The best place to start:

http://www.w3schools.com/html

After you learn that, move on to the JavaScript Tutorial, then to VBscript, then to ASP.

Enjoy, young grasshopper.

I believe a true beginner should pick up a book and read it. My favorite books are the Wrox books. When you are learning you need a consistent delivery of the information otherwise you will get confused more quickly.

Websites are good reference materials for basic functionality but hardly are good for long term learning.

I was able to find a lot of cheap programming books on amzon.com. I would find the book, and then used their website to find new & uses ones for a fraction of the price (4 books, all new, for under $30 shipped)

Beware, learning your first languague is the most difficult, you need to learn the basic structure of a languague (functions, methods, loops, database interaction, ect..)

But it is well worth it! Good luck!
