Everyone is jumping on the 'the mods are idiots' bandwagon without
actually knowing what's going on.

Things are being discussed by the mods/admin and we will make an
announcement later [this week] on what we are trying to do.

Chief, as neutral observer (I really have no idea what's going on at devshed) I can say for sure it looks really bad. moderator ban full-fledge member for no apparent reason and without any explanation - can't see the logic in this, no matter how hard I try. not all mods are idiots, only that particular one - unless there's good reason that I'm not aware of? marki didn't hurt anyone, didn't post spam, didn't post offending stuff and was banned just like that, out of the blue. that's how it appear for those from the outside at least, and as public forum the moderator doing this must consider it before banning or taking such extreme measures.

As a mod over at Devshed, and one who has nothing to do with the Markisdee incident, i'll try and throw a little light on a few things.

First off, the mods at devshed have decided that the lounge especially was seeing a lot of posting from inexperianced users who were not contributing to other forums. Instead they were accumilating rep and post counts in the lounge and creating a whole series of very pointless and very stupid threads.

The aim of the recent changes in policy as far as i understand was to prevent threads from going off topic right from the start, and to install a bit more quality to the lounge so that it became a better, more wholesome environment, for everyone.

Markisdee is not banned as of this moment at devshed. He was banned, but it has been lifted in hindsight. Markisdee further has a past history at devshed with both the admins and some mods that ... shall we say... made him a little more susceptible, to a little ill favored partiality, on the part of some mods

What ever it may be as it stands markisdee is still a full fledged member with no warnings to his name and post count and rep intact.

The rest of us have been trying to draw up as clear guidelines as we can, and once all the devshed mods give their nod, we will make this public.

There are no personal vendetta's being carried out there. And if there were, rest assured all the mods (and we are quiet a few over there) and admins even, are watching and keeping tabs and will ask for justification.

Just give it time and all will be ok.

As for the censorship, well markisdee, if you could show me the content in the posts that have been deleted and the threads they were posted in and i'm sure i would have been able to tell you why

Thats all from me folks. kindly do not consider this as a blot on devshed, but rather an attempt to improve. The mods are not getting paid for this, and most have better things to do. Many of them are putting a lot of effort and time into making these changes ....they would not be doing it if they did not care about the community.

thanks Nigel, this clear things up. still, can't see the reason for shutting the lounge down - that's what you're doing - after all, its purpose is for "off topic" things and friendly chat. or isn't it?
