I was banned again at DevShed

Wtf. I got a 1-week temp ban at devshed. Can one of you figure out if it was from a serious mod or from M.Hirsch for this comment?

Because if it was for the latter, I think this is abuse of the system, because he was being a jerk.

if it was for the latter that seems crazy !!! (Take his mod rights away !!)

banning for comment?! you should report it via esupport, such person should not moderate if that's really what happened.

That's the weird part. I do not know if this is the reason for the banning (although I see no other reason), because I recieved no email, but M.H did claim that he was the banner.

I have said my opinion as comment in that mod post, but I still don't have all the details - what made him so pissed off at you?? it can't be just like this out of the blue.
anyway, forum with such moderators reminds me of prison or army, I want nothing with such forum. I feel very lucky to be here, although it's much smaller with less members and visitors. feel free to stay markisdee, hope you'll find yourself new friends here.

This isn't a smaller scale problem -- this has to do with long-standing rifts in the Lounge.

Hirtch seems to be fed up with the degree of idiotic trolling in the Lounge, and wants to restore some sort of order to it. And, in some manner, I have to agree with him -- the Lounge may be for trolling, but it's gotten a tad out of hand, as exemplified by some certain examples. I don't think banning everyone is the answer ( ), but I would like to see a *tad* more order restored. But not too much, because otherwise I would have to leave there and troll here full-time, and I don't think you guys are ready for that (heck, even DS isn't )

Taken out of context, his comment would appear to be very inappropriate, and even in context it's still awkward, but he's not acting on his own. Sep is a major hater of all things troll-related, and frankly if anyone's attitudes should be drawn into question, his should be first. Also, Hirtch has contact the admins regardign the situation, so he's not just a loose cannon doing whatever he wants, I believe that he thinks he'll have some sort of admin backing.

Although, his choice of banning methods is questionable. He did state in that thread he did it that way to preserve his e-mail anonymity, but frankly that seems a bit lame. If he were banning 50 members, OK, I could understand that, but two (maybe three, dunno if anyone else was hit, but it doesn't seem so) members? I really don't think that was necessary. When banning a long-time member from a forum, you just have to give them some sort of an explanation.

The admin's have been contacted regarding this and, reportadly, are expected to issue an official annoncement regarding the situation within the week. All I can say is that it will be interesting....

Both of you should stay here and post, shout and help others. We have a great crew over here, as does Dev shed, and as Shadow said you are all very welcome indeed.

The ban is a week and in my opinion it's not too much of a big deal. If it's about principles and arguing with this person I would be inclined to rise above it. Maybe this person wanted a reaction and is laughing his arse off at people when he gets it. At the end of the day if you stay here you will get more respect even if you do troll.

I agree, trolling is out of hand and I was very surprised it went on to the scale I have seen. I personally find Sepodati hilarious in his quest to de rep people so much for irrelevant posts. If there are enough people that agree then send private messages and get everyone to start de repping these people at the same time. Agree a date. This way you can make your point but best you don't react to any comments. But there is a danger that the mods may get annoyed and disappear. I would say it's not worth it and just carry on having fun and as long as you're not being abusive all should be well. I've noticed that no one is abusive so this really wouldn't be a problem.

They are probably using extreme measures to make a point. I say let them but ignore the comments and carry on regardless if that's what you want to do.

You could also start a thread in the lounge entitled; "Say what you want", this way you can post anything and it would be relevant to the thread. Thus, how can they get annoyed at that as you are following the thread.

B-Con pretty much got it correct. I'm not saying any more now though, but there will be some announcements later on in the week. We've been in contact with Jcaputo and he's ok with what we're doing.

But I don't think the account is banned at the moment.
