when I first came here (two months) , the pages loaded fast and all was good... I was impressed.
but recently (one-two weeks) the forum takes ages to load... one minute it's working fine, and all the sudden the pages won't load anymore and takes 2-3 minutes to appear. if only those forums were hosted on fast server or at reliable host, it would have been so great...... is anybody doing something to amend this issue? because I can't see any forum survives with such bad connection. |

Well the servers have recently been upgraded into a cluster environment, so you should be seeing better performance. But there have been a few problems with the new servers, which I know the admins were sorting out.

oh, it's always like this. I've seen three forums fall to dust because "they moved to new server"..... sorry to tell you but so far 100% of the forums I've been part of and moved to "new server" suffered terrible problems with those servers.
hopefully, these forums will make an exception!! |

I don't know any admins yet (only moderators) but I guess they're pretty good... but not always it's up to them - what if the host is not good? server not good? not everything is in the admins control.
however, for the last couple of days all is looking really good (*knock on wood*) - I hope it'll keep being like this! ![]() |

facts:
1. the forum is working fine and fast when I login from home. 2. the forum is working very slow if I work from work or univercity. it happened with other websites as well, and the problem is the server on which the forum is hosted is blocking certain places, i.e. unreachable from certain locations or more accurately certain IP ranges. it's cool if you have website intended only for people from USA, but as far as I understand this forum is international. so now it's probably working fine for most of the ppl here and to the admins as they're from the USA where the server is located - but it's no good for ppl from other places. it probably works fine for me when I login from home because my ISP there use different IP range than at work or univercity, range that is not blocked - maybe they even have servers in the USA or something, I'm not sure. TYI by working very slow, I mean the page starts to load really fast (as it should be) but after loading about half page, it "freeze" for 1-2 minutes (with half html code, I checked the html source code while it was frozen) and then all the sudden the rest of the html is being sent and the page finally display fully - something is blocking the html from being sent on the first place. I fear there isn't much you can do as admins except moving to different, global, server... but I believe this is information you should know about, as you can't see it happening yourselves. edit: attached is the partial html code as I've taken while the forums main index was frozen. |

I can't really comment on this, but I doubt the problem you're describing is a problem at the server end, although the forums are being slow for me right now. If you want to contact the admins go to esupport.

ok thanks... I hope this will resolve itself somehow - currently it's quite slow, but not as bad as it was when I posted the previous message couple of hours ago... thanks for the concern anyway!

shadow wizard,
try increasing your browsers page cache, internet explorer has quite a small cache, and this sometimes causes vBulliten forum software to run slowly at the client end. Although that said, the entire css being in the head of each page isn't helping matters - admins do something about this, its costing you money from the bandwidth its creating. also you can afford to remove much of the white space from the code as this adds to the bandwith quite a lot. |

A2K I assume you didn't see when I posted this. ![]() that was long time ago, the forums has moved to new server since then and all is working fine. don't worry, if it wasn't working fine I wasn't going to forget about it! ![]() |

I must admit I didn't look at the date (bad HCI me thinks) although I still wonder howmuch extra bandwidth is being paid for with the stylesheet? |
