Microsoft will soon publish their brand new version of Internet Explorer browser - IE7 of course. They claim it would be safer than ever, with cool additions like built in pop up blocker and tabbed interface (I wonder where did you copy it from
) - so what's your opinion on that browser? Are you going to use it? You really believe it would have no new security risks every day like it is now? Any opinions are welcome! ![]() |

Promises are very nice, but can't guarantee anything... I'm using Firefox these days and I'm good with that browser. When IE7 will be out for some time I will see how reliable and good it is, and only then decide whether to use it or not...

I'll most likely download it. I'm still using IE 6 and still think it's the best. I've seen FireFox but I just don't like it. I've also heard that some websites have difficulty being compatible with the browser (such as my school registration site). So yeah, I'll probably get it. It's about time, though, that Microsoft add simple things like a pop-blocker. As for security? I don't think any type of browser made can be deemed "100%" secure. Maybe in the beginning but in the long run, someone will find a way.

Where is the option to 'wait untill the next release of my current browser is available'? There are only two reasons people use IE:
1) Its installed on their work machine, and they can't install a better browser 2) The poor misguided people aren't aware how much better firefox/netscape etc... are |

what make you think IE is the best, ProEdge? I used to think like that until not long ago - until I saw Firefox, as well as the numerous problems with IE security. I'm not saying Firefox is perfect, nothing is perfect, but it's very nice, very easy to use, has features not available in IE and most important for me, has no major security holes yet. I'm not Anti-Mictosoft and not blind follower of open source projects, I simply prefer the better products. ![]() Quote:
well, the second option fit you best - if you're going to "wait untill the next release of my current browser is available" it means you will consider moving to IE7 right? so, you're not sure yet... ![]() Quote:
Typical Anti-Microsoft propaganda - indeed, Microsoft is aggresive and use its power to sell its products but on the other hand, their products do work, are really easy to use (most of the times) and ever improving. Firefox is better currently because of the relative security and additonal features - all the GUI and standard features are the same as IE almost one to one - so if IE7 would be what it should be, it would be "better", technically at least. but only time will tell. ![]() |

I use IE, simply because I always have done. A few people have been telling me to try Firefox for a while now, but I'm happy with IE. If it comes out and it's much different from IE6 then I might take the chance with a few browsers to see which I like best. If I'm going to take time adapting* to a new browser then I might as well. The only other browser I've used quite a lot in the past is Opera and I think that's ok, but not as good as IE.
I appreciate what you're saying about Firefox, Shadow Wizard, but I've just never had reason enough to change. Probably down to laziness. * Yes I know it's only a browser, and it's not like I'm adapting to a new language, but you know what I mean. |

well, they must say something, they can't just ignore those threats. of course they can't offer 100% protection, but I hope IE7 would at least be somewhat less vulnerable. ![]() Quote:
yeah, I understand. but when you get hordes of trojans just because you're using IE don't come crying! ![]() reason enough for me to change was when I saw endless articles about how vulnerable IE is, how easy it is for any website to put whatever it wants inside the user's computer and take it over, and how many ppl got infected because they didn't install the patches on time. Microsoft sent public warning to disable javascript - I believe this is very clear sign they admit failure. without active scripting, browsing the internet is like seeing the world in black and white only - without any colors, without any fun... so I decided to try browser which is very alike IE in all aspects and for now considered to be more safe. |
