Page 2 - Job Advice

If you're 23 and looking for potential advancement you should go to the PHP place. You'll get another skill under your belt and you'll make more money. Also consider the following:

If you keep doing what you've been doing, you'll keep getting what you've been getting.

In other words, if you're not satisfied now get out! In 40 years your job won't be any more satisfying (granted that it still exists). Learn as many languages as you can, if you can get paid in the process so be it. Besides, technology never stands still so programmers should never "marry" one language. You do that, then when that language is gone what can you do? However, more languages is more familiarity so when you see new things you can say "that's like in ___" and you'll catch on quicker.
I understand your fears. I'd be worried too, what if I'd work with a bunch of jerks or whatever... well, learn what you can, get as much money as possible, then find another similar opportunity.

Remember on Office Space, two of the three main characters got fired so that the company could hire cheaper programmers. Don't be those guys, have enough background that you can find alternatives.

But don't take it from me, I'm just a 19 year old non-programming person who happened upon these forums to better a database. I'd like to program kinda as a hobby, but I don't know if I'd go much further than that. But I kinda think it's fun to make something out of words and variables.

Thanks leuvenaar, i am not an artist either. Just played around with CSS for a while and came up with that, i think it is based on about 4 tutorials i read and practised. Still not all CSS tho!!

hey, thanks for asking. Nothing changed but i guess i did not really expect to. It was good to talk to her and i am a bit clearer with things. Stil miss her but i am getting there. I now know that there is no hope for us getting back together in the immediate future but that helps me stop wondering "what if" so now i just have to wonder "what if" for the more distant future!

Gotta get my stuff on saturday, then it will be all over we will just be friends...
