Keywording for SEO

hi ,

I'm looking for a safe way to add text content / keywording for search engines to a site that contains only images/flash and no html text.

As far as I can tell, any kind of SEO is considered spam by the search engines - what's the solution?

hi there and welcome to the forums. Although some people here may have some ideas about seo you might be better to look and ask in the seo specialised forum. http://www.seochat.com

I hope that helps

I'd be interested to know what you discover, if you do discover a solution. I've been faced with similar issues when clients want/need graphic intensive sites. I usually try to steer them towards a compromise that provides a healthy dose of text with the graphics.

Hi,
Well, you could add meta tags, not that they mean much anymore. I guess
the <title> tag and backlinks will be what gets you on search engines.
Submit it to every search engine and directory and showcase site you
can find.

Nothing wrong with SEO, so long as it's legit. Except that rule #1 of
SEO is don't use Flash.

I'd actually recommend against this part. I think the conventional wisdom is that the engines will rank you better if they find your site initially from a link from another site, wheras if you submit your site using their 'submit a site' tools, it will actually have a detrimental effect on your rankings.

A legitimate technique for flash sites may be to use a frameset (easy, hear me out...) and use the <noframes> tag to display the site's copy to the spiders legitimately.

not sure it would have a detrimental affect but just wouldn't be as effective as finding a link from another site. However the latter is not always easy !!

If you are not willing to redesign the site so it includes flash and text, then the noframes option is one option to get text onto the page - in addition to meta tags and title tags.

Another option may be to add some text links at the bottom, linking the user to a non-flash optional site - but you do not get that much text on the home page with this.
