Oh yea, well I'm getting a computer science degree! </sarcasm>
So I have to share this funny story about this clown that is in one of my girlfriend's college classes. So I guess some kid she is lab partner's with drops that he's a computer programmer (since when did this pick up ladies?) and she proceeds to tell him that her boyfriend (me
) has a degree in computer programming. Now for the record I never tell people I'm a computer programmer, because for one, my job title, IS Assistant, doesn't exactly mean I'm a computer programmer. I have an entry level job, where I do tech support, work with Flash to upgrade their website, create an intranet with asp.net and c#. Basically a whole bunch of different functions. I did however go to a tech school and get a two year computer programming a.a.s. degree, and also got a ccna while i was there. So this needle **** goes on to bad mouth the two year degree and then when my girlfriend mentions that I am teaching myself .net, this clown goes on to say, oh that has nothing to do with programming, thats networking stuff. He then proceeds to try and impress my girlfriend with his program he wrote on his calculator. Ok, fortunately for me, my girlfriend is not mildly retarded and told this kid he was an idiot. But I just thought this was pretty funny, and one of those situations where kids think a big shiny diploma is going to get them this incredible job programming. I just wish I could have witnessed a guy trying to pick up a girl by showing off his TI-83. Lol. Ah, life sure does make me laugh sometimes! |

A good friend of mine never took a college class in his life, he is completely self taught and makes $85K/year as a network administrator.
I also know people who have bachelor degress in Computer Science and they can't get passed working at a Help Desk job. Education is fine, but without skill and experience, it's almost worthless. The guy sounds like a moron...I love morons...they make be feel smart... ![]() He'll probably end up working at a Help Desk job and his boss will probably have a tech degree or high school diploma.
