OT: Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server ...

We are contiplating using Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server. My boss wants me to do research on it, so I googled it and I am getting information all about it. But I was wondering if anyone here uses it or has used it. And if so can you let me know what you think of it? Also would it be better to use that or use a more traditional method (HTML, ASP, Javascript....) to make a intranet.

Any information that you might be able to give me will be much appricated.

I guess the question comes down to what do you really want to do with it?

I've had it running a few times to test against use with our software. What I've seen it most used as is a common repository for files that users can "check out" and then "check in" after they have made the necessary changes.

not really sure what he wants from it. I know that he want to make a new INTRANET where we have certian sections of the Intranet that will only allow a certian group (admins and exeutives) to view it.
