outlook or AVG?
Hi guys
I had a broadband internet line installed here at home a couple of weeks back. I have avgfree and ms outlook 2003 pro. In the beginning I downloaded mail very fast, but lately its taking about 30 mins for a 2MB file !I tried to disable the email scanner of AVG, same thing. Then I installed Thunderbird, and it also downloaded slowly, disabled avg email scanner, and voila! downloaded faster than before ![]() Do you guys have any idea what could cause this? I ran a full spyware scan, nothing. Thanx! noFriends BTW, do any of you know where I can find a valid speed test to test my dl speed? The I got with the ISP sucks! I can dl a 2MB file in 2secs according to them ![]()

maybe i am missing something but you seem to have answered your own question by saying that when you disable the avg email scanner it works !! Although i guess this doesn't explain it working faster when you first had it set up. It is probably just the avg scanner scanning the email but if you are worried you could run hijack this and then post the log on Devshed in the Antivirus area and hopefully TomMyboy or one of the other HJT experts will be able to assist you ! |

http://www.adslguide.org has a really good speed tester.
Click on the 'Speed Test' link at the top right. You need to have Java installed for it, but it is the best tester I've seen. About the mail though; not sure what's going on there. I'm using Outlook 2k3 with AVG 7 Free Edition [on highest security], and I have no problems at all with sending/receiving emial... ![]() Have you been to office.microsoft to check for Office updates?

i do not believe its an AVG issue.. sounds like your mail server is problematic. Or it could be that your ISP server has a bottleneck.. or that you are experiancing a period of network congestion.. does this happen to anybody else on the same ISP in the area.. does it happen work.. ?
