Please guys help me out - My life is screwed.

Hi guys... I feel like crying right now.

Recently I sold my borther some 'gold' on ebay for a laugh, I made a stupid sale price like £130k. It was purely a joke.

But ebay jsut sent me the feee and its like £3k. WHAT THE HELL DO I DO?!?!?

I have sent them an email explaining it, but pelase guys, tell me what I can expext to happen. Oh boy Im such an idiot.

ouch, thats harsh if worse comes to worse and you don't pay and it ends up in court, maybe you could get some money by selling your story to the papers

bets thing I can think of if the email doesn't sort things out is to post on the ebay forums for advice, i did a little research and best place to ask seems to be on the policies/user agreement forum http://forums.ebay.com/db1/forum.jspa?forumID=100

you'll probably have to get your brother on this as well. He will have to let them know that he did not purchase the item for that amount of money.

Hopefully, their just trying to scare you and teach you a lesson at the same time. Hopefully!

Thanks for help guys. I told them that i can provide Paypal statements, bank statements, etc. I also told them that I'm a student and I don’t even earn that much in a year.

I just remembered about this £10k that I have in savings - so if worse comes to worse I will just have to pay up. Its not worth going to court - eBay is a multi-million dollar company, it would be like fighting Microsoft (they would have like 100 loyars!).

My heart almost exploded out of my chest when I first saw the email, I still feel a bit nauseous now :-(

I really don't think they can charge that money if in fact the item wasn't really sold for that much. They may even go after the buyer (your brother) for not paying the amount he "promised" to pay. Either way, I think what you should do is get a contact number and talk over the phone about this. They will most likely want to talk to your brother to verify this and y'all will learn a huge lesson.

I don’t mind getting shouted out, I used to get that enough at school.

But I hate the idea of legal action... I hate the word legal!!!! Mainly because I know nothing about the more in-depth side of law, except it loses idiots like me lots of money to bigger companies (I know its my fault… but still). No doubt there is some disclaimer about what I have done that says they will deal with it in harshest possible manner. I did read that forum you gave me a link to, but I couldn’t find anyone in a similar situation, I may post my own thread if eBay take a long time to reply to me.

On the bright side, if they do charge me, I could get my face in the paper (I'm thinking optimistically here!).
