C++ != ObjC != C != B != C#

The only real similarities are the syntax and keywords. C# is more like "D" anyway.

C and B are both procedural languages, B being more tuned to systems programming. C++ and ObjC are essentially the same, spare for a few features difference. C# is just a language to create and interact with an existing class library which is "compiled" into MSIL and JIT'd.

Oh, and with mastering C# comes knowledge of ASP.Net, anyone who knows C#, VB7, Managed C++, or any of the other CLR languages (including COBOL), can say they know ASP.Net after just skimming through the HttpContext class and System.Web namespaces.

Anyway, I am scheduled for some training with C# and .NET this summer for my company...but currently am only developing in vbscript, ASP. I am looking forward to it based on what I've read it's capable of, and the fact that I've been frustrated with ASP after having come from a php background.

I can see you're going to be a valuable resource on this in the future!

Let me put it this way:

You can, in theory, port Quake 2 to ASP.Net by exporting the frames to raster images to save to a HttpStream. The Quake2 DotNet source is already available, and the DirectX Assemblies work a treat too (so you can make a real-time 3D game for the internet)

Oh, and System.Imaging > GDLibrary

They can say they know it, but they would be lying.
There are vast differences between programming a C# Windows application and programming a C# Web Application aside from teh HttpContext class and the System.Web namespace.

I mean knowing *how* to develop apps.
