|
I am currently trying to install printer drivers remotely over a network, would any one know who to do this?
OS- Windows xp pro I have so far tried- cscript prndrvr.vbs -a -m lj631en.exe -u pcid00218 -h L:\Apps\Setup Programs\drivers\Printers\HP Laserjet 5\XP *The U is the PC name Can any 1 help? Thanks |

You don't need to install printer drivers on any of the client machines.
Windows 2000 and above has "Printer Driver Sharing" which means only the server needs the driver. The clients send an arbitrary request to the server, the server then responds with the driver package that the client installs before resending. One nifty feature is that the server can house drivers for alternate OSes: Alpha NT4.0 IA64 Windows XP x86 2000 and XP x86 Windows 9x x86 Windows NT I understand there's also a patch you can get that lets you install OS/2 drivers |
