Text Editor in VS 2005 for ASP?
Is there a way to make the text editor in Visual Studio 2005 more friendly for ASP/VBScript? At the moment it's mostly black text for me, with the odd bit of brown for text in speech marks and a little more colour for javascript.

I'm stumped as to how this is a "lounge" topic rather than an ASP topic? ![]() |

PFunk, Most likely it was moved here rather than ASP Development because it more specifically deals with VS 2005 configuration more than an actual ASP coding question. It would get more attention here I would think because ASP Development is full of people dealing moreso with coding practices rather than program usage. ![]()

I haven't tried this. I'm still using Frontpage and/or Dreamweaver for classic asp coding.

This thread should actually be placed in the .NET area, since it pertains to VS 2005.

This is all very amusing
I don't want to ruffle any feathers but I thought it would be a post for an ASP specific audience rather than VS 2005. Either way, there have been no helpful responses so far! ![]() |

It seems like the best solution is to install interdev and run it alongside VS 2005.

If you want an asp/html editor with syntax highlighting look into Notepad2 it's free, you can't beat that.

for me, nothing can be better than good old notepad. key words are automatically
highlighted in front of me as I look and I can even see most syntax errors before running the code. indeed, this is the result of 5 years programming but if I would have used editor with syntax highlight or code generator *shiver* I probably was going to be much worse programmer. as for the original question, you most probably can't integrate VS.NET with classic ASP - best is using one of above applications. ![]() |
