The biggest military hack of all time!!!
I see a Scotsman is to be recommended for extradition after hacking into US military networks for the last 12 months.
Unemployed, Gary McKinnon, could even face a jail term in the infamous Guantanamo Bay Holding Centre. Jesus, this guy must be a genius you'd think. Hacking into the US Military main data centre unknown for nigh on 12 months. Not at all - he said the security was extremely lax almost lazy. Hmmm, I wonder how many hits the network will get now that this info is now public. Verified Link |

Probably because it was contracted out to civilians like every other job worth having in the military. Having a real job in the military is like Dell not outsourcing it's jobs....it's just not gonna happen!

Not really a shock considering there are about 25,000 attempted intrusions into U.S. defense systems per year, and these are only the ones they know about!
About 96% of these "known" intrusions are blocked and logged. I also wouldn't call it the "Biggest" military hack either, considering what Kevin Mitnick did back in the 80's and 90's. |

I think the headline "biggest" was referring to the cost of the damage he caused to the Military Network (or part of it) which was estimated at around $700,000 (£375,235).
This is his quote as to how he got in Quote:
i know he stated that he was after proof of UFO's and as B&W stated why didn't he print the screen off as back-up for his claim. I think he'll be used as an example to ward off future hackers - big hefty fine or a prison term. As for Mitnick I see he has turned legit and is now running a security consultation company. I read more on him at Wikipedia, here, very interesting -- especially his jail term when they didn't even trust him with a telephone. ![]() |

I read the link Chief, plenty of good points made by both sides of the debate, but, personally I feel he'll be made an example of -- however, balls should roll at the other end for letting him in - for 24 months I thought it was 12 - with a basic perl script.

lol Fortunatetly...I prolly will never get to deal with that fun stuff because all those jobs are contracted to civilians. But yeah...I wouldn't let that happen on my shift...my home network is probably more secure than the military's. |
