So far only good things has been said about Firefox... however looks like this excellent browser do have problems, and quite major ones - critical update is now available for example but I can't install it... attached is the screenshot with the details, which by the way is no good, as the details are in one line and I can't resize the window, thus can't even see what wrong.
![]() The browser itself is great, I really hope it won't fall because of such things... any idea how can we help it survive? |

That's simply a corrupted installer.
Mozilla do have the MD5 hashes of their apps available, just compare them before running. I'm going to stick with 1.0.2 untill 1.1 comes out, you won't have to download a whole new installer for each upgrade then. |

hmm... that's going to be blessed update - apart of the time it's taking to download the 20 mega "update" it also appears as independant program in the Programs list via Add/Remove programs in Windows. |

lol, sorry... it's actually 4.6MB but even that can be much for those with slow connections. and much worse - it save the setup file on the desktop. quite irritating, why not in the windows temporary folder?? I prefer clean desktop!

Are you talking about the Firefox v1.0.3 update?

any update so far - all of them downloaded themselves to the desktop as once setup file, all of them appear in the Add/Remove program screen. it's not vital, but it's quite not professional for such advanced browser.

Did a little bit of research and a reputable poster in Firefox forums mentioned that they are currently working on it and that Version 1.1 (which will be released in August) won't suffer from such woes, however, they also mentioned that there will be a 1.0.4 and a 1.0.5 before the 1.1 updgrade.
By the way, it's mentioned too that 1.0.3 has fixin's for 29 security holes ![]() |

so version 1.1 would be in direct fight against IE7 - going to be interesting...
no wonder there're so many fixes - probably as the browser became more and more popular, it's also became the target for hackers and being open source project, it give the hackers very easy ground. how it goes? "you win some, you lose some"... hopefully, FireFox would become stable soon. |

I'd at least install 1.0.3 if I were you; there were some big security fixes in it, most notably, [although not that well publicised, the JavaScript memory dumping bug - This is a huge flaw in pre 1.0.3 browsers. Sometimes it just crashes the browser, but most of the time, it takes 10k of memory and displays it on the screen. |
