VPS - Good Idea?
Hey all,

I have asked this on devshed, but i know ppl here are not all on devshed so am asking here to!!

We are on a shared hosting package with nicnames at the moment, but the db access is very slow. They say it is because we are on a shared server and if we want it faster then we need to move to a dedicated server but that is too much. So i have been looking at VPS with other companies...Any experience with this? Is it likely to have the same issues??

Any advice or comments appreciated.

Hi RF,

For me personally it all depends on your host's infrastructure, and how many other sites you share a server with. That will obviously influence the bandwith going through the shared connection.

I am making use of a Resellers package with Host Department. I host about 20 domains on my account at the moment, and the speed on all of them are impressive.

I am very satisfied with their service. Check it out if you want. Host Department

thanks DOM, i just read on devshed that vps's are much slower doh !!! why isn't it all simple !!
