VS 2005 disappear
Hi guys,

I am working in a team using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Software Developers and Microsoft Visual SourceSafe 6.0.

We all are experiencing the same problem:

VS just disappears sometimes.

Seems like it is just discarded from memory, and not even visible in the Task manager. This happens somtimes when you have another application open, or browsing the net.

Anyone encountered the same problem!? Is there a patch for this behaviour?

what you mean "disappear"? is it being closed?
sometimes new programs arrive full of bugs, most probably that's the case here.
that's why I prefer the VS.NET 2003 that works just fine. sometimes it crash,
but it's rare.

Yes, it just closes down. The one moment it's there, and the next it's gone... Must be a bug. Need VS 2005 though for my .Net 2.0 apps.

well, maybe it's only in the "Team Edition" - hard to believe it's permanent bug
in all versions - even Microsoft are not THAT dumb to sell so horrible stuff.

I've never had this happen before. That sucks! Sounds like Shadow may be right though. I'd be interested to find out what you learn if you figure anything out. We are considering the Team Edition for future implementation.

I've not seen this with VS 2005, but get something similiar with
Thunderbird.

It appears to disappear!

Nothing in the task manager - even under processes
Nothing in the task bar.

Alt-Tab round the open programs and it comes back!

If this the same bug, maybe you have the same solution?

We are still investigating the exact cause, but it definately causes us some problems at the moment. Will give you guys some feedback when I have a better idea what is happening...

Seems like it's almost the same scenario - except even if I Alt-Tab, it does not seem to appear...

sounds more of OS issue then.. now that you mention this I recall that
sometimes Firefox window disappear and when I Alt+Tab to it, it would
re-apear.. very strange.
probably something went wrong with all those patches they have to
write all the time.

I've got VS 2005 Professional installed, but haven't experienced any problems like that.
