My old band was called Meltdown Morning. Now I'm in two other bands: Reagan Administration and Hi-Fi Collective!

What do I do at work???
Well, right now I'm waiting on getting a new laptop...I pretty much killed my old one. I'm also in the middle of training some new programmers, explain our standards, how we code for efficiency, creating ERD and database designs, etc... Then the fun part starts....When they think they've completed an application...I get to show them how easy I can break it!!!, then I make them go back and fix it...then I break it some more, etc... a never ending cycle....I'm considering starting my own consulting company...a combination of security consulting and software development consulting...I like the security side better...it allows me to bring out my destructive, evil side!....Such as the shopping cart of a website (listed in the Site Reviews section), I hacked last night. |

What exactly is a software consultant's job? There's a small software consultant firm in my community that has made it pretty (in the regions anyways) and I tried to apply seeing how I could use the experience being a 3rd year software engineering student. Unfortunatly seeing how they are a small firm and they had tight deadlines they said they wouldn't hire students because they don't have time to train anyone... oh well, can't win 'em all!

A software consult is someone who specializes in developing software applications to help customers solve business related issues. It could be something as simple as an application to maintain a customer list or a full blown help desk system that allows a company to manage their employees help requests. |

Cool thanks, I guess the name can be somewhat misleading as I thought a software consultant would be someone who would give advice, supervise and/or debug an application without actually being involved in the project.
I suppose that would be somewhat ineffective seeing how bringing the SC up to date as to how the system works would just the project down but oh well. |
