Loans add interest. Why not save money and just pay everything in full? Yes I'll probably need student loans but the less borrowing the better. |

Because the net present value of 5$ today is far different from the net present value of a future 5$. Inflation and the uncertainty of currency makes Federal Student Loans a great idea - chances are, you'll save alot of opportunity codt if you apply the money you are making to more immediate consumption. Does that make sense? |

umm.. for a salaried employee, a loan actually makes better economic sense quite often. in your case, since you dont have a steady income at the moment, this may or may not benefit you. But the loan will not affect you much, if you go on to make full use of your college education. your salary will whipe it out pretty fast provided you are prudent.
I have pretty decent understanding of the economic benefits of a borrowing etc..you have to factor in many thing tax rebates, opputunity costs, cash tie up, etc...but i dont have the time to explain all of them. it took me about 3 years to fully understand the way things play out. Google this in detail, or go see a chartered accountant. mind you they charge, but they'll help you plan your finances and investments. as a young proffessional a sound financial plan, is a must. my 2 cents ![]() |

lo... unfortunately not medianox. i do like the subject though.. my information comes primarily out of a lot of reading up, and from managing my own finance portfolio since freshman college. besides i have spent a pretty penny on chartered accountants and my sister is one too (but i wont bum her for advice
). the net result has ben profitable though so i dont mind the money spent on their fees ![]() |
