The proper question would be "Which technology is better.", using the word "Who" implies that PHP and ASP are "People", not objects.
To answer your question it depends on who you ask and what you need to accomplish. Some people prefer to use PHP and other prefer ASP/.NET. |

Asp.Net v2.0 would have the edge on PHP on speed and security builtin functionality. That is my opinion in any case.. ![]()

A list of things that mean more to performance than what langauge is used:
Way, way, way at the end is what language?

All this might be true, but I think zaid if referring to the builtin capablities available in the respective technologies. Refering specifically to performance and security of the technologies, asumming all the stuff you mentioned is the same for both... |

Which is better? The one that you can code in and make money. The one that supports the applications and components you intend to use. Security and speed can be terrible in any environment unless managed by competent server and network administrators. There is no way to make useful generalizations about one environment vs. another. If you have specific requirements to discuss then perhaps some educational dialogue can take place. And comparing NET to PHP is kind of like apples vs. oranges. ASP 3.0 and PHP are much more similar.

I like both. They have different strengths. ublguy makes some good points about all the other factors involved. Doug G's point that php and ASP 3.0 are more similar is true...but php blows asp 3.0 out of the water (in my opinion).
I think an experienced programmer with all the right resources could make robust use of either platform.
