Question Why PHP?

<rant>
While I know that it was probably a management level decision, it seems odd that a site that has been dedicated to ASP for many years and ASP.NET for the last few would choose to switch the site to PHP.

I know that it's just my $.02 on the matter, but the proof of concept is usually better accepted by everyone when the site hosting the content believes in it as well.
</rant>

On a side note... Thanks again Steve for bringing us such a great site for all these years. I wish you the best in your future endeavors. It should be interesting to see what this change brings to the community. I'll be putting my positive thinking cap on to try to welcome the change.

Welcome Andrew. We are running a mix of ASP and PHP. We are running 2 different servers and are using PHP for serving our ads and for the bulliten board, and using ASP to serve the content.

Also Andrew - there are a few modules that the site uses that coinside with VBulletin that are used on the network - one being the archives.
