WMA conversion

I've got to word this carefully i guess, so as to avoid any "illegalities". Anyone know how to convert WMA's which I have purchased but are protected, into MP3's? Since nothing i've come across will convert protected stuff.

This is all within my legal right since I own the music. (Just so no one thinks i'm trying to start "that kind" of thread...)

And just to go on a rant here. I hope the RIAA dies a painfull death!!! It use to be so easy to make mix CD's...

Are you sure you "own" the music - or have you just rented
it

Anyway its for Linux, I have never used it... various disclaimers

True, but will they convert PROTECTED wma's? I've tried about 30 or so and when they come across a protected WMA they won't do it.

yeah, that sucks! If you buy a song for an WMA player it'll sometimes (if not always) copy protect it so it can't be a CD song. I bought a song from Rhapsody as a WMA player song and I couldn't burn it either. I say if you buy the song they should remove all copyrights.
Although Rhapsody has a plan where if you pay $14 a month you get unlimited WMA player transfers so I supposed that could be a problem. That's easily changed though I'd think. If a purchase transaction is completed you get the unprotected WMA file.
There's no reason to stop people from having full access to files they legitimately purchase!
