Question VBScript and ACCESS programming question

Hello,

I'm trying to figure out a way to do an SQL SELECT from an ACCESS database with vbscript. (Not VBA.) This will be a .vba file that'll be double-clicked by the user when some data needs to be found in the database.

Inserting and Updating are easy:

' Create new instance of Microsoft Access.
Set objAccess = CreateObject("Access.Application")

' Open database in Microsoft Access window.
objAccess.OpenCurrentDatabase "dbase"

' insert the data
qstr = "(insert into udata ([Name]) values('" & fields(1) & "'))"
objAccess.DoCmd.RunSQL qstr

' update data
qstr = "(update udata SET [status] = 34 WHERE [ID] = " & fields(2) & ")"
objAccess.DoCmd.RunSQL qstr

but how do I do a select? I'd like something similar to:

' find data with status=34
qstr="(select udata.ID from udata where udata.status=34)"
IDs=objAccess.DoCmd.RunSQL(qstr)

Is this possible with vbscript? Again, this isn't VBA or VB, its VBScript. (And that's all I'm allowed to use.)

John
