@Annaharris you can turn off automatic updates in Windows 7... however that is probably not a good idea as it will make your system vulnerable to attack. It might serve you better to change the install time to 4 am or some off time like that. Go to start>control panel>(switch to Icon view in top right)>Windows Update> Change Settings. I hope that helps. As for how to fix slow computer there are many ways to go about making your computer super fast. One thing I have not seen mentioned is check for spyware or adware. These two forms of malware have become as bad as getting an actual virus. Defrag doesn't really effect Windows 7 as much as previous versions of Windows as it does it automatically.
