[CSS/HTML] Expanding layout help

Hi

I am trying to get my head around some expanding layouts with CSS, what I am trying to do it, I have the page which has a navigation bars to the right and left which are a fixed width, leaving a block in the middle to add my main content, what I want to do is have a series of horizontal bars within which will be sets or either 3 4 or 5 images, and I want these images to even spread accross the screen, so the spaces etc are all even, the initial layout will be design for a screen width of 1024 but all to expand to the full width of bigger resolutions.

Does anyone know of any tutorials, scripts etc that will help me set this up and play.

Or at least give me some pointers for the best way to go about it.
