Detecting if two objects are onmouseout

I have a link inside a div on one of my sites. I have it working so that when you roll over the div, the div fills with the link, but as soon as u roll off the div, it sets back to default value. Since the div is filled with a link, rolling onto the link is rolling off the div. How do I make it so that my close function detects if BOTH the link AND the div are onMouseOut?
