automatic pivotable update to spreadsheet

I'm building a database for sales and I want to be able to view data in analytically. I built a pivotable based on a query showing quantity and unit price for each product that was sold on certain days. In other words, Products down the left, Date across the top, and quantity and unit price as the data. However, I need to export this into a spreadsheet to calculate other quantities. But when I do, I have to redrag fields into the pivotable and then reformat cells to currency. Seeing how doing this everytime the data updates to view analysis is a hassle for the users, is there any way to automate these functions? I tried building a form with the excel object, but it doesn't get updated everytime the data changes. Thanks.
